Review (Jazz Method Book): Symmetric Cycles by Robert Crawford
As a jazz musician you are always looking for new ways to
develop your language and to increase your “vocabulary.” In checking out Bob Crawford’s Symmetric Cycles I came across a great
new method book to help jazz musicians not only build their vocabulary, but see
chords and harmony from a different perspective. He has insightful ideas and helpful exercises
to more thoroughly develop your language and give you more facility in your
improvisational quests.
Musician, composer, producer, and author Bob Crawford is a
veteran of the music industry with Latin Jazz, Rock and R&B credits
stretching back over 30 years. He has
worked with Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Larry Harlow along with
Phoebe Snow, McFadden and Whitehead and many others. His book Symmetric
Cycles is also featured in longtime publisher Jamey Aebersold’s website.
