Coltrane’s “Alabama”: A Dedication to South Carolina

The journey to peace and harmony has been long.  From slavery and voting rights to civil rights and now human rights, I do believe that we will get there some day.

This kind of act is all too familiar and is eerily similar to the Alabama church bombing in 1963.  I think Coltrane’s “Alabama” that was written in memory of the 4 girls that were slain in that brutal attack, is an appropriate offering for this moment.

May those affected by the tragic shooting at the church in South Carolina yesterday, find peace and comfort at this time.
