Tribute B.B. King
Whenever I told my sax students to learn how to play the
blues I would tell them to listen to B.B. King.
His phrasing and language encapsulated many of the important lines blues
players played and besides the notes his expression was genuine and you felt
like he was talking to you through the guitar.
Pick any song any record and you’ll learn something about playing the
blues.
Of course his singing had the same feeling and he had a mix
of all the blues singers the came before wrapped up in his delivery. The field hollers and work songs filled his
voice with energy and strength.
